Figures come from government statistical tables, such as the BLS Consumer Expenditure Surveys and the Census Bureau's American Community Survey, and consumer rules from agencies such as the FTC and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Each guide names the table, year and link it used and explains the limits of a national average. The guides are general information, not financial advice.
